Rock n' Roll High School

So I just watched Rock n' Roll High School for the first time, and I really can't believe it's taken me this long to see it. Obviously I loved it. I mean it was super silly and completely mindless, but so much fun. I just really can't help myself when it comes to The Ramones. I just love them.

The movie is super fun, especially if you actually like The Ramones. Riff Randel, the main character annoyed me in the beginning, but grew on me a lot by the end. Getting to see the guys run around and do crazy stuff for the whole movie was sweet. I seriously wish The Ramones had taken over my high school. Of course, that would have been made slightly more difficult by the fact that they were already broken up when I was in high school and that Joey died before I actually graduated. But it looks like it would have been ridiculous amounts of fun. I think my favorite scene is when Riff is daydreaming about The Ramones and they're in her bedroom singing to her, and then she goes to take a shower and Dee Dee is playing the guitar in her shower and the rest of them are all in her bathroom. Although I think I would freak out if I woke up one morning and The Ramones were all just playing in my bathroom. But again, it would be slightly more scary since almost all of them are dead now. Actually that would be ridiculously creepy now that I think about it.

Anyway, I keep this running mental list of things I want to get when I just happen to have surplus money that isn't already accounted for (which is never, but you know). And one of the things very high on the list is the Weird Tales of The Ramones box set. I've been eyeing it ever since I first saw it at Urban awhile back. It's got 85 songs, a documentary and other video and a comic book history of the band as well as other miscellany. There's really no reason I need to own this, but I sure want to.

The cover art with all the guys as weird nature spirits (maybe?) hiding under a log is a tad bizarre, but it is called Weird Tales of The Ramones. So who knows, maybe the next time I have 65 bucks to be spent frivolously it will go towards a Ramones extravaganza.
